FAQ
COMMON QUESTIONS |
Kris began building guitars in 2004 in Atlanta, GA. In 2014, he and his wife moved to Berlin where he works today. He builds guitars using traditional and unique methods of construction. Each is handcrafted without the use of computer-controlled machines or pre-fabricated components, and is finished with the traditional method of French polishing shellac. The guitar is designed in collaboration with the customer – and optimised to meet the specific needs of the individual player. Wood selection, measurements, set up, playing style, and other variables are considered when designing and building the instrument. There is 30-month wait list for Kris' guitars.

Understated, Luxurious
Two models of instrument are available to further enhance the experience of the player. An arched-back model designed for power and responsiveness and a solid-back model designed for a more traditional tone with ample volume and projection.
The guitars are not typically heavily adorned, presenting an understated, elegant aesthetic. Various metals are used for the rosette and other decorative elements add uniqueness to the guitar. Many options are available, allowing you to create a guitar that is uniquely yours. |

~Notable~
Kris’s guitars are one of the most elegant instruments you will find from any luthier of his generation. There is beauty and a great attention to detail in his creations and the tone of these are extraordinary. The Berlin-based American luthier has engineered machine-head tuners – Barnett tuners – that are arguably the best in the world and was the creator of the very popular Sagework Guitar support, which are innovative in design and created with the guitarist in mind. This attitude of his is prevalent in his work – you will find in your hands an instrument of superb projection and playability when you get hold of a Kris Barnett guitar. |
